Under amendments to the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Regulations 2008 (WARR Regulations), local governments, liable recyclers and liable non-metropolitan landfill premises are required to report waste and recycling data annually to the Department of Water and Environment Regulation’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in accordance with approved procedures.

The Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Amendment Regulations 2019 were gazetted on 28 June 2019.

During this consultation the department sought feedback on the proposed methods for reporting for each type of liable person (local governments, liable recyclers, liable non-metropolitan landfills).  

The consultation period ran from 8 April to 27 May 2019. 

The department consulted on the intent, policy framework and proposed amendments between July and August 2016.

The amendments to the WARR Regulations and the CEO notices for each type of liable person under the regulations were gazetted on 28 June 2019. 

The CEO notices include the final approved procedures for the estimation/calculation of annual return information, which were developed in consideration of the comments received on the proposed methods during the consultation period.
