The Department of Environment Regulation has produced guidelines to assist with the assessment and management of acid sulfate soils in Western Australia. The guidelines are applicable to WA sites and have been developed on the basis of experience both here and in the eastern states.

If you are developing within a Class 1 (red) Acid Sulfate Soils risk area, a condition will be automatically imposed by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). To clear the condition, complete an Acid Sulfate Soils Self-Assessment form and submit it to DER.
